Random things

You know how sometimes things just happen, and you’re taken on an experiential spaceship to some random set of events that amaze you, thrill you, and make you feel like you’re a random number in some larger set of exciting events that are sure to become exponentially more exciting and interesting?
Yeah, well, I don’t. See, the thing is, I over-calculate before the ship sails, considering the strength of social winds and current of emotions until I’ve missed the entire thing. Before I know it, I’ve come to some (usually inaccurate) conclusion as to how things will end up and I don’t even board. It’s a good thing if you’re a careful individual, but by all accounts, I’m not meant to be that careful. In fact, I’d much rather be the ignorant fool taken for a ride for better or worse. Stuck between an appreciation for what could happen and what should happen.
Meanwhile, NASA scientists are confused why Jupiter lost a belt, and some scientist says he created life. These are people who aren’t so thrilled with the fact that shit just happens. Imagine, for a moment, if modern science wasn’t predictive – instead, let’s say it was simply observational. If it just said “this is going down on Jupiter” instead of “this shouldn’t be going down on Jupiter,” perhaps we’d be more willing to create new possibilities without forcing conclusions and answers. Similarly, imagine if religion was built to discover new truths instead of push truths on reality. Heck, we’d have a couple fewer wars, wouldn’t we?
I’m not saying that’s the answer, that that’s how we should behave as humans, but it would at least encourage us all to sail this ship of randomness we call life.
